Canal and Flood Reading

Many of the studio’s questions turn on water: a kitchen that should not meet the seasonal rise, a soi that holds rain, a bank that neighbors describe differently. A canal and flood reading stays with that subject. It does not try to become a full place study, and it does not claim to predict a future storm.

Duration
Three to five weeks

Who it is for

Households beside a khlong, architects placing a floor level, and groups preparing for a community meeting who need the recent wet seasons described in one place.

Included

  • One dry visit and, when the calendar allows, one visit after rain
  • Notes of stain lines, debris, laid grass, bank height, and what neighbors are willing to say on the record
  • Two plates: the bank or corridor, and a seasonal band rather than a single line
  • A written finding that separates observed marks from accounts
  • One revision round
  • Printed sheets and a digital copy

Outside this commission

  • Hydraulic modeling of the city drainage network
  • Pump-station operations or municipal flood warnings
  • Licensed surveys and construction drawings
  • A guarantee about a future rainy season

How the weeks run

  1. Name the water question

We agree the stretch of bank or the patch of ground, and the decision you are facing. A fee and a visit window follow.

  2. Marks, then conversation

Malee records physical marks first. Neighbor accounts are written separately and only when people know they are being noted.

  3. Two plates and the finding

The seasonal band is drawn wide enough to show disagreement among marks. The finding says which marks we trust and which we set aside, including freshly painted posts that hide older stains.

Before we begin

Tell us about recent wet years you remember, and whether we may speak with neighbors. If a visit must happen on private bank, arrange leave before we book the day.

Limits

Outside the rainy months, a second visit may record only residual marks. We will not invent a storm day to complete a checklist. If that limit does not serve your deadline, we say so in the estimate.

The fee

54,000 THB starts a reading of a short bank or a single ponding patch in Greater Bangkok, with two plates and a finding. A longer corridor, night access, or a required wait for a specific rain are added in the estimate.

Half is asked before the first visit. The rest is asked before the sheets are released.
