Four drawers, and the habit of leaving a blank where the evidence stops

The map room is a set of flat drawers in the Ramintra studio, not a gallery of slogans. Finished plates lie in the dark so the paper stays flat. You can ask to see a drawer before you commission anything.

Blank copper frames on the drawer fronts. The caption lives in the finding, which is filed beside the sheet, not printed across it.

Visitors often expect a wall of framed maps. We keep the sheets flat because a curled plate lies about its own scale. Each drawer holds one family of commission. Identifying names are removed unless the client asked to be remembered. You may handle a sheet with clean hands. You may not photograph a client’s parcel in enough detail to reuse it.

If you are deciding whether a place study is the right size, start with drawer A and then look at C. The difference between a full reading and a water-only reading is easier to see on paper than in a price list.

Place Study

Drawer A holds the Tha Raeng kitchen-extension study: the wet-season band sits closer to the house line than the dry-season grass suggested.

How this commission is delivered

A single unlabeled map sheet with fine contour ink, held by brass corners on a velvet-dark table

Sheet MP · single plate

Map Plate

Drawer B keeps a plate of an older Min Buri deed whose frontage on the soi had been argued from memory. The sheet shows the frontage against the present lane, without settling the legal line.

Canal and Flood Reading

Drawer C holds the Lat Phrao bank reading from last August: stain lines on three posts agreed with each other, and a fourth post that had been repainted and was left off the plate.

How this commission is delivered

Two unlabeled parcel drawings side by side on smoked glass, copper weights at the corners, velvet darkness around them

Sheet PC · comparison

Parcel Comparison

Drawer D holds a comparison of two Ramintra sois from March: equal area on the deeds, unequal turning room for a delivery truck, drawn on one sheet.
